Get rid of that spare tire with Vitamin C and dairy?
November 20, 2007
The jury may still be out, but a new study published in The Journal of Public Health Nutrition suggests that an increased intake of vitamin C and dairy could reduce the accumulation of weight around the abdomen. Over 900 Iranian women aged between 40 and 60 years were found to have 131 per cent more central fat accumulation if their intakes of vitamin C, calcium, and dairy were low. Other recent studies have linked a bigger waistline with diabetes and heart disease.
This study highlights the importance of a healthy lifestyle including plenty of physical and mental activity, and a diet that incorporates a good balance of all food groups, including dairy. Just make sure your dairy is organic.
