Video: “The World According to Monsanto”

April 14, 2008

On March 11 a new documentary, The World According to Monsanto, by French journalist and filmmaker Marie-Monique Robin was aired on French television. About an hour and 49 minutes long, it and details how Monsanto pollutes the environment, effectively pushes for deregulation, and stifles competition from naturally produced crops across the world. Monsanto is an American-owned international agro-chemical and foods conglomerate. It employs about 45,000 people and peddles over eight billion dollars a year in chemical products all over the world. Best known for producing NutraSweet, Round-Up, and the genetically engineered rBGH (Bovine Growth Hormone), the latest criticism is for it’s moves into the world of GMOs (genetically manipulated organisams). Monsanto produces ‘RoundUp Ready’ soya beans that are genetically altered to be resistant to their chemical herbicide ‘Roundup’ (the biggest selling agro-chemical in the world with sales totalling more than $620 million a year), which provides 40% of the companies operating profit. This powerful biotech corporation is threatening to destroy the agricultural biodiversity which has served mankind for thousands of years. It has forced PCBs, Agent Orange, biotech crops and rBGH on the world and has much more control over global politics, laws and the future of food and water than most people realize. Watch this investigative video and learn why you should be concerned for yourself and for future generations.

Looks like Google pulled the video we originally posted but thanks to Taro at Dandelion Salad, you can watch it here: http://dandelionsalad.wordpress.com/2008/04/01/the-world-according-to-monsanto-a-documentary-that-americans-wont-ever-see-full-video/

I am just sickened as I continue to learn what the world is coming to. It is just a CRIME that the government condones the destruction of mankind. In most cases seems to encourage it. Where do we even find hope when politians don’t even discuss this. A majority of the population aren’t even aware of GE & GM not to mention the carcingens that are destroying our planet, to say nothing of the human lives that have could have been saved if this were prevented by “OUR LEADERS”. I truly believe that all countries should be electing ordinary citizens for our government leaders as none of their educational skills seem to be relevant to their political positions anyway. They rely on congress, their advisors (which specialize in particular areas) and the military leaders for all their direction. When it comes to the FDA and other goverment division NOBODY needs a degree to monitor how crooked they are. The degree’s haven’t helped us or our country thus far. Maybe someone with less money, power and education can keep honest and true to our christian standards instead of becoming so CORRUPT!! Some of the smartest individuals roam the streets with brilliant financial skills, they’ve just never been discovered. Why is it do you think the media NEVER talks about Monsanto, the FDA or other governmental entities (including all crooked pharmaceutical companies – that keep us sick to get rich)? All news reporters/journalists can’t wait to break the next story on anyone else. I believe It’s because the major networks are affliated somehow and they know they better keep it under lock and key….or else!!! How can we get the word out better, and faster? Baby steps are better than nothing, but its taking so long to inform people that the rate of distruction is just driving over us like a turtle on an expressway. I want to “believe” and keep faith while spreading the word, but Its hard to keep your head up everyday!!
